Easter – noun : the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and held (in the Western Church) between March 21 and April 25, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.
I see my Facebook wall flooded with people and bunnies, eggs and ideas for baskets. Tomorrow it will be filled with color coordinated families and dresses and suits purchased just for the day – because being on the best dressed list on Easter is what is most important right? Of course others are posting praises for Jesus dying for our sin.
I wonder though how deeply we feel His sacrifice? He called us to serve and not be served, but how many of us will be found guilty of that if we were asked? Where do you serve and more importantly who?
Jesus job was a carpenter. He served in the capacity of helping others and loving the unloved. Serving took sacrifice. Ultimately it cost Him his life. The same goes for us. Serving happens day in and day out, not just at Christmas when that needy family comes to mind. We all have jobs and careers, but where are you serving? If you aren’t serving – you’ve got it wrong and I can promise you, you are missing seeing God work in amazing ways.
Just some thoughts as tomorrow approaches – what’s most important to you?
